Here is the Datil Red Pepper, Capsicum chinense, Scoville units: 30,000 to 70,700 SHU. The Datil Red Pepper origins are unknown but is a variant of the original Datil yellow Pepper. Fruits are long and red when ripe with a smooth flesh and can get to 2.75 inches long and turns from green to red with a blunt bottom. Plants are medium sized and can get to 48+ inches tall but often times they stay around 32 inches tall and can grow low to the ground. Pods are high heat and have a really nice tangy but fruity peppery taste and is best used when fully ripe. It will fruit first year and does really well in a 1 gallon pot. Plants can live for several years in pots and tend to stay around 20 inches tall and ornate if pruned on a regular basis. A must grow for any collector!
