Here is the Ethiopian Brown Berbere Pepper, Capsicum annuum, Scoville units: 10,500 to 45,000+ SHU. This rare and exotic pepper originates from Ethiopia. It is also known as Berbere pepper, Ethiopian Berbere and Ethiopian Brown. This strange pepper is very unique and doesn't resemble any other pepper. The pods get to around 5 to 6 inches long and has a mild coco flavor that is somewhat short lived. Fruits start out green in color with flat or satin finish and turn brown when fully ripe. Plants can get to 3+ feet tall and tend to be a medium sized plant but if pruned and potted they tend to stay small like 2 feet tall and bushy. Pods have an amazing flavor with a very nice uniqueness and medium to low heat with sweetness that is very satisfying. Some peppers may be very hot so be careful! This version of naga originates from Mumbai (formerly called Bombay) which is the capital city of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is very similar to the Naga Morich Pepper but is a little different. Pods start out green then ripen to red in color when fully ripe with skins that are lumpy and bumpy like a Bhut Jolokia but fatter then a Bhut. Plants can get to 4 feet tall and produce dozens of fruits per plant. Pods have an amazing rich flavor with a very high striking burn that don't go away very fast! This pepper is rated very high on the scoville scale and is just as hot if not hotter then the regular Naga Morich. Open pollinated 80 days.
Here is the Aji Tapachula Pepper, PI 439380, Capsicum baccatum, Scoville units: 5,000 to 20,000 SHU. This Pepper originates from the city of Tapachula Mexico. This is a very strange pepper variety as the fruits are an up right type and have a small pumpkin shape. They are very productive with plants reaching 4 feet tall. Fruits are about .5 inches wide and can have very low heat to sometimes have very high heat. We found these to be great for pickling and good for drying too! Open pollinated 95 days.
Here is the Rocoto Canario Pepper, Capsicum pubescens, Scoville units: 10,000 to 60,000 SHU. This Pepper originates from Peru. It is also known as manzano pepper but this is not the same as the Manzano Yellow Pepper. The Canario (Yellow) variety is a smaller bush variety with fruits getting to 1.5 inches round with an irregular shape to them. This is a very strange pepper variety as the fruits are blocky shaped and have black seeds. They are a good productive variety. with plants reaching 2 feet tall. Here is the Indian PC-1 Pepper, Capsicum frutescens, Scoville units: 50,000 to 100,000 SHU. This variety comes from India and was considered Naga Jolokia for some time. That's why they are often, but incorrectly, found under the names Naga Jolokia (PC-1) and Naga Jolokia Tezpur. It was published as the hottest chilli in the world and should replace breeds such as Habanero Red Savina and Habanero Francisca in terms of hotness record. Later it turned out that the variety is also a very hot and aromatic chilli of the Capsicum frutescens species, but the heat does not come close to the Naga Jolokia. This is a very strange pepper variety as the fruits are shaped like a birds yellow beak. They are a good productive variety. with plants reaching 3 feet tall. Here is the Jays Peach Ghost Scorpion Pepper, Capsicum chinense, Scoville units: 600,000 to 1,000,000 SHU. This Pepper originates from Eastern Pennsylvania, USA and was created by Jay Weaver. It is a cross hybrid between a Peach Bhut Jolokia, and a pink Trinidad Scorpion. The Jays Peach Ghost Scorpion variety is unique that it is a bhut jolokia that has a tail like a trinidad scorpion pepper. They are a good productive variety with fruits from 2 to 3.5 inches long with a pink flesh. Plants reach about 3 feet tall and do well in pots. However there is another variation that originates from Yogyakarta, Indonesia and is said to be a landrace variety. We believe this variety is from Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This listing is for the yellow type of Locato Pepper. This rare Locato pepper (the true name is Locato and not Rocato) variety is quite tasty and is used quite a bit throughout many countries in south america mostly Bolivia. Pods start out green in color then turn yellow in color when fully ripe and get to .75 to 1.50 inches round. Like all other rocato peppers they have black seeds and are very hard so make sure to remove them before eating. Here is the NOT Capsicum parvifolium Pepper, Capsicum sp., Scoville units: 10,000 to 15,000 SHU. This Peppers origins are unknown at this point. First of all the Capsicum parvifolium was re-classified as Capsicum caatingae Barboza & Agra in recent years. The problem with classifying this variety is the true C. parvifolium flower is purple and the flower for this pepper is like a baccatum flower. HRSeeds has done a lot of research on this pepper and we are on the fence at this point. There is info out there showing flowers that look exactly like the "NOT Capsicum parvifolium Pepper" but other images indicate the true Capsicum parvifolium is a purple flower variety. We believe it may be a cross between a wild baccatum and a C. praetermissum or it could very well be a sub species of Capsicum parvifolium. Here is the Large Black Marbles Pepper, Capsicum annuum, Scoville units: 1,000 to 10,000 SHU. The Large Black Marbles Pepper  origins are unknown but we received the seed from a seed trade that was from the USA. This pepper has a black skin when in direct sun light but changes to orange, red when fully ripe sometimes with dark to black patches on it. Fruits tend to be a round or conical shaped pepper but much larger in size then a regular marbles pepper. They go from green to black to red but some times just turn red or black right away. After more than 50 years, the rare autochthonous species, Capsicum lanceolatum, of Mesoamerica was rediscovered in a virgin remnant of the Guatemala cloud forest. At all previous known locations C. lanceolatum was extirpated. Here is the Gamba Pepper, Capsicum annuum, Scoville units: 000 SHU. It is also known as Gambo pepper an is a Ratund or flatted bell pepper. This pepper originates from the the Baltics. It is a very thick, meaty flesh pepper that is flattened like a sheepnose type. We have grown the Bulgarian Ratund pepper before and this seems to be very similar and would be a good replacement if needed. Fruits get to about 3 inches across and 2 inches deep. They go from green to red and produce over a dozen fruits per plant. Plants get to around 30 inches tall and bushy. Open Pollinated, 78 to 85 days from transplants.
Here is the Texas Rice Pepper, Capsicum annuum L. var. glabriusculum (Dunal) Heiser and Pickergill, Scoville Units: 10,000 to 30,000 SHU. This Pepper originates from the Deep south mainly southern Texas USA and is native to the USA. It is a wild chili pepper That is elongated and range in size from 1/4 to 3/4 long but most are about 1/2 long. It's called rice pepper because it's around the size of a grain of rice and is used extensively in Texas cooking. They go from green to red in color when fully ripe. Plants can get to 6+ feet tall and put out hundreds of fruits! They are great when dried and make a really good powder or flake! Here is the CAP 1491 Pepper, Capsicum eximium, Scoville units: 100 to 1500 +/- SHU. The CAP 1491 Pepper originates from Bolivia. This small pea sized pepper variety has very small berry type fruits getting to 1/4 inches across and dark red to almost brown skin when fully ripe. Berries fall to the ground even before fully ripening. Plants can get to 3+ feet tall and tend to be a compact sized plants and very wiry and spindly with thin branches that like to touch the ground. but if pruned they tend to stay small. Pods have a very nice wild berry flavor with a very nice medium heat that is very satisfying but some peppers may be very hot! These go great in salads and rice & beans! We found this to be the most productive C. eximium variety and easiest to grow in northern climates. Heat also varies some don't have any or very low to about 1500 SHU. This long hanging bird pepper variety has a skinny body type fruits getting to 3 inch long and turns from black/green to red skin when fully ripe.
