Eggplant, Solanum melongena is good to grow fun for all gardeners. They are a good source of fiber and needed in our daily lives and are sometimes more expensive then other fresh vegetables in the supermarket! Raw eggplant can have a bitter taste, with an astringent quality, but it becomes tender when cooked and develops a rich, complex flavor and is sometimes used as a meat substitute in vegan and vegetarian cuisines. Here is the Little Fingers Eggplant, Solanum melongena. This Variety originates from Japan. This light purple flowered variety of eggplant is one of the few that we consider good for eating raw. It has a very smooth flavor and great texture. Plants can get to 2 feet tall but tend to stay around 18 inches tall. Production is also good with fruits ranging from 2.5 inches to 10 inches long and range in color from light purple to very dark purple. The Little Fingers Eggplant is a mid to late season producer so make sure you start your seeds in FEB or MARCH for best results. Open pollinated annual ivy leaf  65 to 120 days or late fall.
