Here is the Assam Pepper, Capsicum annuum, Scoville units: 50,000 to 150,000 SHU. The Assam Pepper originates from Assam, India. This long hanging bird pepper variety has a skinny body type fruits getting to 3 inch long and turns from black/green to red skin when fully ripe. Plants can get to 3+ feet tall and tend to be thin wiry branches but if pruned they tend to stay smaller. Pods have a very hot and spicy pepper flavor with a very nice fiery burn that is very satisfying but some peppers may be very very hot! These go great in salads, rice & beans and salsa! We found this to be a very productive variety and easy to grow in northern climates. Usually fruits first year but sometimes it don't so you need to over winter. Plants can live for many years in pots and tend to stay around 18 tall and ornate. The peppers also have a strange black on green stripping when they are in the green state but turn full red when ripe. VERY RARE! A must grow for any collector! Open pollinated, wild, late season, black/green to red, perennial, medium grow, 63 to 100+ days to overwinter for many years. LOT# 2 R14 TAG# 137-2022
