Pusa Asita Black Carrot
Daucus carota subsp. sativus
Here is the Pusa Asita Black Carrot, Daucus carota subsp. sativus. This is a Creation by Pritam Kalia From India. We have grown this carrot for 2 years now an found that it made very few carrots but more of the wild strain it was crossed with! Never the less we are offering them here where you can give it a go an try to stabilize it more. What we can say is the few carrots we did get were pitch black all the way through and had a wide top that narrowed core all the way down! They did get from 6 to 10 inches long and had a nice smooth sweet flavor. The carrots looked so black it didn't look real! They grow well in soft loamy soil. Open pollinated 67 to 83 days.
