This winter squash originated in Waltham, Massachusetts and is a improved version of butternut squash that has a sweet nutty flavor with orange flesh and tan skin. This 1970 All-America Selections winner has larger fruits and smaller seed cavities and can reach 10 inches long and 5-6 lbs. This squash is known for its smooth texture and sweet flavor. It is most often used to make pies but can be used in soup. Plants are pretty productive getting to 11 feet long and making as many as 10 fruits per vine. a great choice for and garden!
