It is a smooth skin most of the time and a dark color but sometimes can be lighter in color. they can get bigger if left on the vine for seed but pick them young like 4.5 inches and they make great pickles! It is the No. 1 choice for super markets for their long shelf life. Plants get to around 10 feet long an do make suckers. Open pollinated 65 to 74 days from transplanting.
