Here is the Painted Serpent Cucumber, Cucumis melo var. flexuosus. Also known as the Painted Metki Serpent Melon. It looks just like an Armenian cucumber but is very different! It is more like a melon then a cucumber. It also has a slight sweet taste when fully ripe. It also tends to be very soft unlike a stiffness of a cucumber. We like to pick them before they are fully ripe but can be eaten either way. They can grow as long as 4 feet! The fruits can take 2 months to develop. Vines get to 10+ feet long and love to climb up something. This will definitely open your guest eyes when they see this thing! Open pollinated 65 to 84 days from transplanting.
