Here is the Japanese Wild Pepper, Tubocapsicum Anomalum PI 501532. This wild variety is no longer classified as a part of the Capsium genus having recently been reclassified as part of the species Tubocapsicum anomalum (anomalum means 'unusual'). It is a herb with small yellow flowers and red berries. The berries are about 1/4 round. The species originates from Japan but is also found in Japan, southern China, Taiwan, and the Philippines. This is NOT a beginners pepper. Seed starts are sporadic an difficult to start. Seeds can take as long as 2 months to sprout!
