Here is the Dragon Carrot, Daucus carota subsp. sativus. It was developed by John Navazio OSA. They get to 7 inches long and about 1.5 inches wide at the top with a reddish to dark pink skin and orange inside. Its best to grow them in very lose and loamy soil so they don't fork. You can use them just like any other carrot but if left in the ground till the colder months, they develop a nice sweetness to them. We found them to have a long shelf life in the refrigerator. This Great tasting, tender and crisp carrot is a good choice for chefs and home cooks alike! Open pollinated 70 to 80 days.
