Here is the Buena Mulata Hot Pepper, Capsicum annuum, Scoville units: 30,000 to 50,000 SHU. The Buena Mulata Hot Pepper originates from the USA and is of a seed collection from Horace Pippin, an artist living in Pennsylvania in the early 1920s. This very unusual looking purple pepper variety has a thick body type fruit an getting to 3+ inch long and turns from purple to orange to red skin when fully ripe. Plants can get to 3+ feet tall and tend to be thin wiry branches but if pruned they tend to stay smaller. Pods have a very hot and spicy pepper flavor with a very nice fiery burn that is very satisfying but some peppers may be very very hot! These go great in salads, rice & beans and salsa! We found this to be a very productive variety and easy to grow in northern climates. Usually fruits first year but sometimes it don't so you need to over winter. Plants can live for many years in pots and tend to stay around 20 tall and ornate. The peppers often times get stripping an black type spots when they are in full sun. A must grow for any collector! Open pollinated, late season, purple/orange/red, perennial, easy to medium grow,  73 to 100+ days to overwinter for many years. LOT# 2 R1 TAG# 112-2022
