Here is the Guajillo Pepper, Capsicum annuum, Scoville units: 2,000 ~ 5,000 SHU. This pepper originates from Mexico and is often referred to as a mirasol chili but it is not! They are used to make Ristra's and when dried they become a translucent burgundy color. Pods can get to 10 inches long and are thin walled and go from green to red when ripe. Very popular in Mexico and used quite often in salsa and hot sauce for Mexican dishes. Plants get to around 3 feet tall and make over 2 dozen peppers. Highly productive plants that do well in hot dry weather. They winter over nicely making them great house plants as well! Open pollinated 85 days.
