Here is the Golden Scallop Bush Squash, Cucurbita pepo. This is a French heirloom squash that very much looks like a scallop and often referred to as a Patty-Pan type! This squash is a non vineing type which grows like a zucchini plant but can grow to 3 or 4 feet long on the ground with as many as 12 fruits per plant. Fruits get to around 4 to 5 inches across. They make a beautiful yellow fruit that has a creamy flavor and is eaten like any other squash. It is considered a summer squash but can be a winter squash as well. We find them great mashed or roasted on the grill. Seeds are great roasted as well. Open pollinated,  60 to 70 days.
