Filius Blue Pepper
Here is the Filius Blue Pepper, Capsicum annuum, Scoville units: 30,000 to 50,000 SHU. The Filius Blue Pepper originates from Mexico and is considered to be an ornamental pepper. This pepper has a purple skin almost blue hue when in direct sun light but changes to orange, red sometimes yellow when fully ripe sometimes with dark to black splotches on it. Fruits tend to be round pepper shape but much larger in size. They go from green to purple-blue but some times just turn red or black right away. They have a great pepper flavor and very crispy but a pretty good bite. This pepper is considered to be uncommon in the market place. One plant can produce dozens or more peppers and get to 2 feet tall. You can Grow it as an annual or ornamental in the vegetable garden or bring it in for the winter! Open pollinated 85 days.
