Here is the Elephant's Ear Pepper, Capsicum annuum, Scoville units: 000 SHU. It is also known as the Slonovo uvo in Serbian and it is cultivated throughout the Balkan Peninsula. This rare variety of sweet pepper was named after an elephant’s ear because they can get quite large an flat and look like the ear of a elephant! In Croatia and Serbia it is most commonly used to make ajvar, which is a relish. fruits can get 12 inches long and 6-8 inches wide! Plants get to around 3.5 feet tall and can be quite productive with as many as 2 dozen fruits per plant! This pepper is a sweet pepper and no heat. Open pollinated 70 days from transplanting.
