Here is the Bulgarian Giant Leek, Allium ampeloprasum. This variety originates from Bulgaria. They are often used in Leek growing competitions because they can get to 3 feet tall! They are easier to grow than onions and more suited to colder climates. This European leek, with long stalks and a very good flavor has Bulbs that are well-sized and can reach 2 inches thick.
