Aji Charapita Pepper
Here is the Aji Charapita Pepper, Capsicum chinense, Scoville units: 30,000 and 50,000 SHU. This bushy plant from northern Peru produces hundreds of hot small round Tepin like peppers. Also known as Charapilla and Yellow Fire, it is also very similar (if not the same as) Cumani and Tettinas de Monk and Yellow Jellybean. Fruits are round to egg shaped at 3/8 to 1/2 inches wide and long with a lemon yellow color with a very unique flavor. It is said that this is the worlds most expensive pepper going for upwards of $25,000 a kilo! Research shows this is true! Plants get to 3 feet tall and bushy and produce hundreds of peppers. Open pollinated 75 days.
