Here is the Scarlett's Chili Variegated Pepper, Capsicum annuum, Scoville units: 5,000 to 10,000 SHU. The Scarlett's Chili Variegated Pepper originates from Western Australia. It was created by Graeme Chaplin and is a cross between a Purple Tiger and a Jalapeno. This upright striped pepper variety has a medium wall thickness an fruits get to 1.5+ inch long and turns from variegated/striped skin to red when fully ripe. Plants can get to 32+ inches tall but often times they stay around 15 inches tall. Pods are hot but when fully ripe have a nice sweetness to them. These go great in salads, fresh eating and salsa! We found this to be a very productive variety and easy to grow in northern climates. Usually fruits first year but sometimes it don't so you need to over winter. Plants can live for many years in pots and tend to stay around 16 inches tall and ornate. Its like a mini version of candy cane but hot! A must grow for any collector! Open pollinated, mid-late season, variegated, perennial, easy to medium grow, 58 to 100+ days to overwinter for many years. LOT# 5 SEC2 TAG# 162-2022
