Here is the Roma Tomato, Solanum lycopersicum. This tomato was developed by the USDA's Agricultural Research Service (ARS) scientists in Beltsville, Maryland in the 1950s as a verticillium, fusarium wilt-resistant cultivar. They are egg shaped and have very thick walls making it ideal for sauce. It is also drying. Highly productive and produced fruit all the way to the end of the season!
