Here is the NuMex April Fool's Day Pepper, Capsicum annuum, Scoville units: 1,000 to 6,000 SHU. This strange Ornamental looking type pepper originates from the USA and was developed by New Mexico State University. They are purple then orange then red in color when fully ripe often times spotted and black stripes. They measure up to 3.5 inches long and wrinkly. The plants can reach 16 inches tall and produces dozens of peppers per plant! Pods are hot and smooth while very crisp. These go great in salads, rice & beans, stuffed and salsa! We found this to be a very productive variety and easy to grow in northern climates. Always fruits first year and can over winter. Plants can live for many years in pots and tend to stay around 12 inches tall and ornate but needs support. A must grow for any collector! Open pollinated, mid to late season, purple/cream/red color, perennial, easy grow, 55 to 100+ days to overwinter for many years. LOT# 2 R15 TAG# 134-2022
