Here is the Jerusalem Tomato, Solanum lycopersicum. This tomato originates from Israel and was first introduced by Bill Minkey in 1997 into the SSE Yearbook "Original seeds are from Roberta Helpman, Ontario, Canada, who received it from an acquaintance who got it during travelling in Israel.". This red oxheart tomato has a red skin and a red flesh inside getting to about 4 inches across and sometimes may have a slight type of stripping usually caused by late season changes. Plants are short and can get to 4.5 feet tall in really good soil but plants tend to get to 3 feet tall. The fully ripened fruits will have a nice red/pink color to them and 1 to 2 fruits per bract. Great tasting tomatoes for salads, eating fresh and for tomato sauce and paste! Open pollinated, indeterminate, oxheart, regular leaf, mid to late season, red/pink, 72 to 84+ days.
