Here is the Jaune Obtuse Du Doubs Carrot, Daucus carota subsp. sativus. They originated from France around 1894 and was named after the Doubs River. It was also used as a feed stock but is now a chef's choice! These long and stout carrots have a wonderful mild and sweet flavor an can have roots that grow from 7 to 12 inches long and are often bright yellow in color but can also be a flat dull yellow color in cooler weather. Use them just like any other carrot but we like to juice them as well as skin them with a potato peeler and add them to salads. These carrots grow well in soft loamy soil. Open pollinated 63 to 78 days.
