Here is the Early Scarlet Globe Radish, Raphanus sativus. This radish goes back to the early 1800's an was grown by Thomas Jefferson. This classic radish has a red skin with a white flesh inside with a crisp crunchy spicy flavor. They get to 3/4 inches round but can get to 1 inch round. They are among the earliest variety to plant in early spring. They do have a bit of spiciness but often times they are mild. Great for salads and eating fresh! Radishes can be useful as companion plants for many other crops, probably because their pungent odor deters such insect pests as aphids. This is a great starter vegetable for new gardeners. Open pollinated,  25 days.
