Here is the Cubanelle Pepper also known as the Cuban pepper, Capsicum annuum Var. annuum, Scoville units: 000 SHU. It is used extensively in the cuisine of Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Puerto Rico. This is a sweet variety Cubanelle but may have some very low heat from time to time. It is a thin-walled, long, tapered pepper with more flavor and a lower water content than other bell peppers. It is best picked when yellowish green for use in roasting or frying but can also be left to mature when it will turn orange or red. Plants get to around 30 inches but can get to 3 feet and produces as many as 18 peppers or more! Very good producers. Open pollinated. 65 days.
