Here is the Calico Pepper, Capsicum annuum, Scoville units: 40,000 to 60,000+ SHU. The Calico Pepper originates from Mexico. They are a black then black/red colored after ripening ornamental type on variegated plants. They measure up to .6+ inches long, thin walled, hot. The plants can reach 26 inches tall and produces dozens of peppers per plant! Peppers are super hot and tangy but smooth while very chewy and can be dried. These go great in salads, rice & beans, stuffed and salsa! We found this to be a very a productive variety and easy to grow in northern climates. Always fruits first year and can over winter. Plants can live for many years in pots and tend to stay around 24 inches tall and ornate but needs support. A must grow for any collector!
