Here is the Malagueta Pepper, PI 497984, Capsicum frutescens, Scoville 60,000 to 100,000 SHU. This pepper originates from the Caribbean and goes back in written history to 1492 when Christopher Columbus first landed there, then later introduced to Portugal and to Brazil. Sometimes referred to as piripiri pepper, they are a very heavy producer and make great house plants producing fruits throughout the winter months! Pods are about 2 inches long and are up right on the plants and have a fantastic taste! Plants get to about 3 feet tall and spread out. Great for drying or pickling fresh! Open pollinated 80 days.
