Here is the Chilhuacle Amarillo Pepper, Capsicum annuum, Scoville units: 500 to 2,500 SHU. The Chilhuacle Amarillo Pepper originates from Oaxaca, Mexico and is essential to prepare the emblematic yellow mole from Oaxaca. There are 3 versions of Chilhuacle peppers 1. Chilhuacle Negro (brown) 2. Chilhuacle Amarillo Pepper (yellow) 3. chilhuacle rojo Pepper (red) and there may be more and this is not the same as the Chilhuacle Amarillo Pepper long version. This amber yellow thin walled pepper variety has a medium wall type an fruits get to 3+ inch long and turns yellow and stays yellow even when fully dried. Plants can get to 5+ feet tall but often times they stay around 3 feet but very bushy so need strong supports. Pods are low heat. These go great in salads, rice & beans and salsa! We found this to be a very productive variety and easy to grow in northern climates. Usually fruits first year but sometimes it don't so you need to over winter. Plants can live for many years in pots and tend to stay around 24 inches tall and ornate. A must grow for any collector! Open pollinated, mid-late season, yellow, perennial, easy to medium grow, 78 to 100+ days to overwinter for many years. LOT# 2 R2 TAG# 100-2022
