Here is the Ancho Chile Pepper, Capsicum annuum, Scoville units: 2,000 SHU. This pepper is often referred to as a Poblano Pepper but is a different cultivar. It originates from Puebla region of Mexico and are medium sized hot peppers turning from green, to dark red or brown, to black when dried. They range from 3 to 6 inches long and 2 to 3 inches wide.
