Here is the Ancho Chile Pepper, Capsicum annuum, Scoville units: 0 to 2,000 SHU. This pepper is often referred to as a Poblano Pepper but is a different cultivar. It originates from Puebla region of Mexico and are medium sized hot peppers turning from green, to dark red or brown, to black when dried. They range from 3 to 6 inches long and 2 to 3 inches wide. Plants get to around 3 feet tall and bushy They are fairly mild in flavor. This is a long season variety so start indoors in march. Extremely popular pepper in Mexico and the southwest U.S.A Open pollinated, 90 days.
