Here is the Valenciano Pumpkin, Cucurbita maxima. The Valenciano Pumpkin is more of a squash then pumpkin. It is a white pumpkin but the rind color actually varies from bright white to bluish-grey, with moderate ribbing! It has dense, very pale yellow flesh, sometimes more yellow or light orange in color with good flavor. It is a bit stringy and watery. They can grow from 11 to 15 inches wide by 6 to 8 inches tall and weigh 6 to 10 pounds. The plants or vines get to around 10 feet long but can get longer in full sunlight. We found these are really good for making pie and the seeds are also good when roasted. Open pollinated 80 to 100 days.
