Here is the Pisanello da Bruschetta Tomato, Solanum lycopersicum, also known as Pisanello o Pisa tomate. This tomato originates from Pisa in the Toscana region of northern Italy and is known for being use to make the classic Tuscan bruschetta with garlic and olive oil. It was named after the famous Renaissance painter, Pisanello by a local farmer. It is a 3 to 3.5 oz medium red fluted slightly flattened tomato. Plants are a bush or compact type and can get to 3 feet tall in really good soil but plants tend to get to 2.5 feet across. They have a sweet smooth tomato classic flavor with fruits getting to 3 inches across. They also make a great slicing tomato and go great in salads an sauce!
