Here is the Japanese Shishito Pepper, Capsicum annuum var. annuum (Grossum Group) Scoville units: 0 to 1000 SHU. This pepper originates from japan and is used to make Tempura an Shish Kabob. They are glossy green peppers with the crinkly thin skin that are similar to the pepperoncini pepper, but with a mild, sweet flavor all of their own. Often grilled or pan-roasted and lightly salted make a great snack! One in every ten may peak at 1000+ shu. The fruits grow to about 3 to 4 inches long. Plant has a spreading habit and produces prolifically. Also known as Wrinkled Old Man Pepper. Makes a great addition to any garden! Open pollinated 70 days.
